Waiting on God by Wayne Stiles

41v3E6+JzeL._SX322_BO1,204,203,200_We have all experienced a disconnect between God’s promises to us and our everyday reality. We wait, without understanding why. We want to know God’s plan so that we can trust it–but God so often hides his plan so that we will trust him. What can we do in the meantime as we are waiting for an answer, a change, or a miracle?

With deep compassion, Wayne Stiles helps readers understand why God makes them wait. Unpacking the Old Testament story of Joseph, Stiles shows readers how to find comfort and opportunity in the time between God’s promises and his answers, revealing the perspective-altering truth that sometimes when we think we are waiting on God, he is actually waiting on us.

Anyone who has felt a disconnect between God’s promises and their reality, who doesn’t know what God wants them to do next, or who struggles with the brokenness of their world will find in Wayne Stiles a wise and trustworthy guide to finding peace in the pauses.

My Thoughts

Through the retelling and study of the life of Joseph, author Wayne Stiles applies Josephs situation to our own.  He shares this in three parts:
Leaving Home
Letting Go
Coming home

There is no other story in the Bible where one person’s life was devoted to following God, yet was  consistently needing to rise above, hold true to God’s path, and ignore the words and deeds of family to move forward. The area of this book I felt was the most powerful was Forgiveness.  If we do not forgive, we are out of right standing with God, which causes lack of a correct heart relationship with family and friends.

We all deal with God’s silence, waiting on Him, and placing full trust in Him to lead, guide and direct.  I believe this book will give you clarity, peace, and wisdom in your situation.

Thank you to Wayne Stiles, and Baker Books for the opportunity to receive this book in exchange for my honest review.
