The Legend of the Easter Robin by Dandi Daley Mackall

This newly illustrated edition of The Legend of the Easter Robin renews the wonder and charm of the original and timeless tale written by Dandi Daley Mackall. With new vibrant artwork from New York Times bestselling illustrator, Richard Cowdrey, this holiday classic is brought to life for a new generation. The Legend of the Easter Robin tells the story of Tressa, whose grandmother reveals to her the story of a small robin who saw Jesus struggling and soared to help him. This Easter tale reminds Christians everywhere how much Jesus sacrificed for us and how much he loves us.

My Thoughts

This is such a darling, charming book.  Its illustrations brought back memories of “Dick and Jane” readers, with their innocence and childlike faces.  Not only is this a legend of the Easter story, but it also includes a few crafts that you will enjoy creating with the small ones in your life. With the beautiful hardback cover, you will be able to share its pages for many years to come.

I highly recommend this book to parents of children ages 3-12, pre-school teachers, educators, grandparents, and those who are looking for an unusual gift to tuck inside the Easter basket.  Why not spend an extra special day with your child reading this book and creating some or all of the crafts enclosed.  You will create memories that will last forever!

The Berenstain Bears’ Easter Blessings by Mike Berenstain

61PSztewBaL._SX458_BO1,204,203,200_Stan and Jan Berenstain launched the Berenstain Bears books in 1962 with The Big Honey Hunt. Since that time, more than 365 Berenstain Bears books have been published, making it one of the best-selling children’s series ever. Today, Mike Berenstain continues his parents’ tradition of creating warm and engaging stories featuring the lovable Bear family. In The Berenstain Bears’ Easter Blessings, the cubs learn about the many blessings in their lives, and especially the greatest blessing of all-the Resurrection of Jesus on Easter. The short, simple story and well-loved characters provide toddlers with a perfect introduction to this very important Christian holiday. Ages 2-5.

About the Author
Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started writing about and drawing them too. Although Stan died in 2005 and Jan in 2012, Mike carries on his parents’ love of creating Berenstain Bear stories from an area that looks a lot like Bear Country, in southeastern Pennsylvania.

My Thoughts
This children’s book is just adorable.  The Berenstain Bears bring back this lovable family and the story of Easter.  The theme is not candy, bunnies, or even the resurrection story, but a story of counting the many blessings of Easter in the form of spring, people who daily help us, family, and Jesus. The children in your life will enjoy the bright illustrations and the hard back pages will last many Easter seasons.  Tuck a copy of this book in your child’s Easter basket.  It will be enjoyed long after the candy has been eaten.
